A quick picture of the mussel farms in the port. I can’t tell if you can see the granite mountain in the background on this picture but you can on the real picture. More later! Sent via BlackBerry from Cingular Wireless

Today was Olbia Olbia is a port city on the island of Sardinia. Our tour for the day was Gnocchetti Sardi and Ravioli. We traveled by motor coach to a quanit Italian restaurant nestled among the granite mountains of Sardinia. We learned how to make Gnocchetti Sardi – which is an Italian style dumpling. These are made from dough rather than the potato the more traditional Gnocchi are made from. We also made Ravioli using the dough and Ricotta cheese. The cheese was wonderful tasting. After we cleaned up they fed us Gnochetti Sardi and Veal. I’m glad that they didn’t make us eat our creations. A short bus trip to a local museum and then back to the ship – we did have to wait on another bus as ours broke down, but the tour operator was quick and we waited a total of 15 minutes extra. Still no internet that I can use to publish photos. We are too far from the city center here and there is no wireless at the port.
We are having a wonderful time on the ship. The server we have Sachin and the asst. server Katerina are the best we have had. They have been absolutely wonderful. From providing Lauren with Escargot every night to making sure that we have a dessert to take back to the room.
Tomorrow is Rome. It’s going to be a 12 hour day. I know that I won’t have any access to the net – I am going to try and take the cell phone and upload some pictures that way. So far the cruise has lived up to my high expectations. So far it has truly been a cruise of a lifetime.

We just got back on the ship. We visited Pompeii, Sorrento and Capri. Very long hot day. Pompeii was incredible as was Sorrento. Great lunch in Sorrento. Capri was ok – of course Frances was able to find jewelry to buy.

Pompeii was an incedible place to visit. We spent a couple of hours there and only scratched the surface. Mount Vesuvius looms over the city and seeing the remnants of the city are awe inspiring. I have many good pictures to post as soon as I found good quality wireless to use.
Sorrento was a neat town. We walked and shopped after our great lunch at Restaurant Tasso. They had fresh tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella cheese that was incredible. During our shopping excursion Lauren bought some cute Italian shoes that she had to wear to dinner last night. They were a hit at the surrounding tables.
Disney has done the menus fairly well. They try and include a regional selection along with the regular menu. They also have a fairly extensive wine list based on the Mediterranean. Be sure to ask for the Sommelier List as it has some of the better wines on it.

We had a great time today. We rode the bus to take the Boat Ride to Zingaro park excursion. We sailed up the wester coast of Sicily seeing the unspoiled terrain and the mountains. There was a stop where we could get in the water – Frances and Lauren did – I didn’t as I somehow managed to forget a swimsuit. We then sailed on up the coast to a small seaside town where we had a lunch buffet and time to spend shopping or on the beach Lauren went swimming and we shopped for a bit. Lauren wouldn’t allow me to buy a Speedo (I wonder why – I mean all of the European men are wearing them….) but I was able to buy a good bottle of Sicilian wine.
Tomorrow we got to Naples. We get to visit Pompeii, Sorrento and Capri. We enjoyed spending time with a couple and the ir children on this excursion (Lauren met the daughter through the DISboards) and we will be together again for the long day in Rome on Thursday. I couldn’t get the cell phone to accept a data connection so no pictures yet again – but we should be able to get something through in Naples.
The internet from the ship has been absolutely horrid. They really need to increase the bandwidth for the prices they charge.

We had a very good day today. Had brunch at Palo and dinner in Animator’s. Brunch was wonderful as usual and dinner was good. Met a bunch of DISers in Leilani’s suite.
I was surprised that we weren’t exhausted but we seem to have adjusted to the time change well.
Tomorrow is Palermo. We’re doing an excursion to Zangaro park.
I have tried to upload some pictures with no success so I’ll have to try again later. Sent via BlackBerry from Cingular Wireless

We just had the sailaway party – I’ll post pictures tomorrow. We survived and did quite well. Economy class on Lufthansa wasn’t bad – their seat reclined more than usual economy and as I said in the prior post they had us rebooked before we landed.
I was happily surprised that USAirways had gotten all of our luggage here without any issues.
This has been a very stressful few days – we definitely need to shift into relaxation mode. A great deal has happened to me over the past 8 months and I need the break. Now that it is here and we’re on the Magic I hope that we can relax.
Barcelona looked nice, from a distance. More later!

We made it to Frankfurt but it should come as no surprise that our flight was delayed and we missed our connection. Lufthansa was on top of things and they notified us prior to landing of our rebooked flight. We get to Barcelona early afternoon. Sent via BlackBerry from Cingular Wireless
