Well – we have seats on Lufthansa – coach – but we have seats. Seems like Lufthansa oversold business and since they were accomodating us – we got last choice of seats….. Frances is not happy – but we’ll survive……..
At least we have boarding passes in our hands. Sent via BlackBerry from Cingular Wireless

Well – the day from hell continues. I’m not sure who upset the travel gods – but enough is enough. We were late getting out of Pittsburgh – we were actually on the runway to take off when a computer went down – went back to the gate – ran to another flight – and then sat on a 20 minute ground delay – and missed the connection in Philadelphia – by five minutes. The first option to fly to London and connect failed as there were only 2 seats on the flight to London. USAirways was initially NO help – so I was using AMEX to make me new reservations. Finally found a supervisor who cared – and here’s the plan:
1. We stay the night in Philly.
2. USAirways provides us tranportation to Newark.
3. We fly Lufthansa out of Newark to Frankfut and arrive in Barcelona on Saturday morning.
Needless to say we’re tired, with no luggage – but it looks like we might actually make the cruise.
More later!

Sitting in the USAirways Club in Pittsburgh awaiting our plane to arrive. The scheduled 3:35 flight became 4:45 and then ????. USAirways is aware of our international connection and the Club staff is on top of things and say that we will have no issues in making our flight.
It seems like a lot of people on the cruise have had issues getting to Barcelona. From one person who applied for her daughter’s passport in February only to not have it arrive in time, to missed connections and delayed flights it seems like we are off to an inauspicious start.
Hopefully I’ll update this from Philadelphia if I have time.

This is what they did to the car in honor of France’s last day of work.
Well, we made it to Pittsburgh OK – very long drive after a day of work. Going to bed and heading out to the airport in the morning.

Very long day. We finished packing tonight. 6 suitcases and carry-ons – I hope that we have enough…..LOL….
We leave after work tomorrow for Pittsburgh. It’s Frances’ last day so I’m sure that she will take that hard.

It wasn’t that bad at work today – for a Monday. I am getting really tired. I have a 730 meeting in the morning and then work 11a-9p and then I go back and work 7a-5p of Wednesday. Frances is ready to kill me for working so much, but we are still short staffed.
Lauren called me all excited at 910am. I knew what she was calling about as I had been tracking my new MacBook Pro from Shanghai. It is really amazing that I could watch it’s journey across the world. I let her open it and register it. She loved it – she loves that my old Powerbook is now hers though too. I really love this new laptop. It is so much faster than my old one and the new screen is awesome. It is so bright and so easily adjustable to the appropriate brightness. I find myself turning the brightness down some to match my old Powerbook.
We’ve gotten everything laid out that we want to take. I’ll pack it all into the suticases tomorrow night. We are trying to leave before 7pm so that we don’t get into Pittsburgh too late on Wednesday.
I talked to Kristin (well we IMed) each other tonight. She was really busy over the weekend working on the shuttle launch. She’s doing a summer internship in Houston working for Boeing at NASA. Her job has been to monitor the weather and it’s affects on the flight aerodynamics and such.
