Well, we made it to Philly without any problems. Here’s Lauren surfing the net during our 5 hour layover.

Knights and Lights

Today is the day that Lauren and I leave for London to begin our Adventures by Disney Cities of Knights and Lights tour. We are finally packed and getting ready to head to the airport. We need to stop at the mall to buy Lauren a watch – seems like it’s not a teen thing to have a watch….

It was interesting seeing Lauren pack – as she could only take 1 suitcase and a carryon. I think that we managed to get everything. I went yesterday to get some Pounds and Euros to have on hand – boy does the dollar suck at the moment.

We fly out of Pittsburgh and connect in Philadelphia enroute to Heathrow. We’re hoping that since Frances isn’t with us we’ll have better luck than we did last year going to the Med.

I think it will be interesting – hopefully Lauren and I will survive each other for 9 days….. We’ll see!

Jimmy Buffett

Lauren and I went to see Jimmy Buffett last night at the Post Gazette Pavilion outside of Pittsburgh. We managed to get great seats. Frances had offered to help with Vacation Bible School at her church so she didn’t get to go. It’s been a few years since we had been to a concert, but we really are Parrotheads. Lauren went to her first Buffett concert when she was 4.

Great Seats

Disneyland

We spent the last 3 days at Disneyland. It was quite crowded and hot. We managed to sneak onto the preview of Toy Story and thought it was really good. Didn’t want to wait 4hours in line on opening day. We met up with John, Monica and kids for the Electric Light Parade. We had seats reserved and were able to drink wine and eat desserts while watching it.

Disneyland and California Adventure were nice, smaller than I imagined. I would like to return when it wasn’t so crowded. It’s been a fun vacation. We really enjoyed spending the time with Stacey and her family, Monica and John and theirs, along with Kristin and Nick.

Sea Days

Yesterday and today were sea days. It was quite cold and windy so we kept inside. Lauren hasn’t been to the pool at all on this cruise. We ate at Palo last night and had a wonderful bottle of wine to go with dinner. It was in celebration of Kristin and Nick’s engagement. It was a 1996 Chateau l’Evangile – Pomerol. It was incredible and really made the dinner all the more enjoyable. Frances, of course, didn’t like it, but Kristin, Nick, and I loved it. We did do a Tequila tasting earlier in the day, but it wasn’t as enjoyable as previous ones we had done. It was tough saying goodbye to Katerina. We really enjoyed having her as our server.

Puerto Vallarta

Another overcast day. We signed up for the Outdoor Adventure. Frances is the one who thought this looked like fun – and she was right. We went on a inflatable boat ride – happening to see dolphins playing on the way. After the boat ride we boarded Unimogs – think military 6 wheel trucks – for the ride to the camp. After arriving at the camp we received our gear and our initial instruction. When then rode mules – Frances had the mule that didn’t cooperate – up into the jungle. After the mule ride we started our zipline excursion. It was awesome. I couldn’t take pictures – they took them as it would have been too hard to manage a camera. We road 5 or 6 ziplines and then rappelled down a waterfall. A couple of more ziplines and another rappel and we were done. It was quite exhausting – but a whole lot of fun. I’d highly recommend this excursion. A quick boat ride back and we were at the port. We decided that we wanted to go to Senor Frogs – so we just went grungy. It was another great decision – as we had a blast. Frances wanted to go to Diamonds International – but I managed to escape without having to buy her anything else. She did get something in Cabo san Lucas. Tonight was Pirate night. Katerina and Adrian are our servers. Katerina was our assistant server on the Med cruise – and we really enjoyed having her. Alessandro is our head waiter. I’ve enjoyed him, he was our head waiter in the Med, and he always has a new bottle of wine waiting for me.
