Friday was an exceptionally long day. We rode the Gatwick Express In to Victoria Station where we met our guide Richard. We had decided to make a long day of it. We started by heading off to Stonehenge. It was incredible, although pictures of it make it seem much bigger. We the went cross country to Lacock to visit the Abbey where some of Harry Potter was filmed. Lacock is an interesting town right out of the past. We had a very good lunch there as our guide interpreted what the meals were. Who knew rarebit was a grilled cheese with meat….
After Lacock we went to Oxford to see some of the sights there. We mainly visited Christ Church so that Frances could see the dining hall that The one in Harry Potter was modeled after. Lauren was quite interested in the University and has decided to try and spend at least a semester there at some point. It’s good for her to have such goals…
It was then back to London. We visited some of the sites where Harry Potter was filmed including the Millenium Bridge. We at a a restaurant in Covent Garden called Fuse. It was great sitting outside people watching and eating good pizza and lasagna. A long day – 13 hrs or so – but it was worth it.
sounds like a lot of fun!
